African music private lessons.
These lesson will be tailored to the student's interests. Possible areas of focus: African songs (call and response, harmony), children's game songs, mbira (instrument provided), Zimbabwean marimba, or West African drumming, including cultural context. African approaches to rhythm inform a student's understanding of bluegrass, blues, and spirituals (to name a few). Lessons taught entirely by oral tradition.
