This class will meet online - an invitation to a recurring Zoom meeting will be sent by the instructor in advance of the first class meeting.
Join us for an exploration of Kentucky’s rich musical heritage at the hand of the fiddle, one of the most popular instruments of Appalachia. Including obscure and common tunes, we will become well-versed in bowing patterns, ornamentation, and melodic variation stylistic to old-time tradition.
Student must feel comfortable learning tunes aurally at a slow-moderate tempo. We will be utilizing source recordings to understand and imitate the archaic sound of Kentucky’s own mountain musicians.
