Rebecca Kelley, a Louisvillian, is a foreign language educator who taught Spanish at duPont Manual High School and the University of Louisville. She studied traditional music at the grassroots with folkloric musicians while living in Mexico, and travelled with a “Ballet Folklorico” dance company from Veracruz. A few years later when Rebecca began to play the ukulele, it often went to classes with her to accompany students as they sang Latin American folk tunes. She has become a dedicated lover of this remarkably versatile instrument! Today at the Louisville Folk School Rebecca studies both ukulele and mountain dulcimer repertoires. She assists the kid’s ukulele program and is introducing a new class, “Family Fun with the Ukulele”.
