From Elizabeth Cotton to Paul Simon to Radiohead, artists have used fingerpicking or “fingerstyle” guitar playing to accompany and ornament songs in practically every genre. This course will give students a basic knowledge of fingerpicking patterns on guitar. Instruction will include exercises to learn those patterns, as well as applying those patterns to songs in a variety of genres, with videos provided for practice purposes.

This online course is designed for early intermediate to advanced guitar players. Students should come with a guitar and tuner and the ability to play basic chords (G / D / A / E / C / F / Am / Dm / Em). Open to ages 11 and up.
