Fiddle tunes are traditionally learned by ear, not from a page. For those completely new to the concept and those who want to improve their ear training skills in a welcoming environment, this 8-week class will be a crash course in learning how to use your ears to pick apart a melody.  By starting slow and explaining the process, we will attempt to make it less intimidating and more fun. We'll learn tunes and songs, but we'll focus more on the process of ear training rather than the quantity of repertoire. 

Suggested Prerequisites:

• Knowing a tune in the key of D and G, and generally where the notes on the violin are in first position.
• Being comfortable with repetition and playing things wrong before you get them right
• Singing experience (ie: matching pitch with your voice) is helpful, but not required.
• Whether you're brand new to fiddling or switching from classical violin pedagogy... welcome to the dark side!
