
Expanding Folk Guitar with Traditions from Around the World with Tristen Brooke
This class has both in-person and online options that meet simultaneously. To meet on Zoom, select the online option, and an invitation to a recurring Zoom meeting will be included in the orientation email sent upon checkout.
This class is perfect for guitar players with at least some basic skills who want to expand their playing to include rhythms and techniques from various guitar traditions worldwide. By exploring a variety of music traditions, we will expand our creative palette, building on your skills while creating new possibilities in your guitar playing!
In this class, we will:
- explore rhythm patterns including cumbia, Bossanova, Baladi, and more
- learn percussive guitar techniques
- learn fingerpicking and strumming patterns
- add new songs to your repertoire
At the end of this eight-week course, students will better understand right-hand techniques and rhythms and have gained confidence in exploring new genres of guitar playing.
Prerequisites: This course is designed for early intermediate to advanced guitar players. Students should come with a guitar and tuner and the ability to play basic chords (G / D / A / E / C / F / Am / Dm / Em).
