This class is for students who have learned basic chords and strumming patterns on the guitar and would like to continue learning beginner and early intermediate skills. Maybe you used to play but have forgotten a few of the chords you knew, or maybe you just began playing and want to push through to smoother changes between chords, more complicated strumming patterns, and better tone.
In this class students will learn:
Basic first position scales and a few agility exercises using these scales.
4-5 picked melodies using different scales
3-4 new strumming patterns
5-6 new beginner and early-intermediate songs
Experience is required. Students are expected to know guitar basics including simple chords (A, G, C, D, E, F, Am, Em, Dm), basic mechanics of strumming, and should be able to change between chords (even if very slowly).
Students should have:
Extra set of strings
Students will be provided with lead sheets for all songs. Students will also be provided with tablature and chord charts, although it is not required that they know how to read these ahead of time.
Open to ages 11 and up.
