The week of July 10, 2023, will feature a bluegrass music camp for students entering grades third through seventh. We will celebrate this unmistakable style of music created by Kentucky’s own Bill Monroe. Campers will sing classic bluegrass songs, learn about the history and the present of the music, and spend quality time playing fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and bass.

Rental instruments are available at Doo Wop Shop and range from $10-$20 for a monthly rental. If you are not providing your own instrument, we recommend calling/visiting Doo Wop to secure an instrument three weeks before camp begins.

This is a closed campus camp. We require that you sign your child in & out at the check-in table everyday with a staff member. Drop off is rolling, so if your camper needs a little extra sleep one day, they won’t miss crucial activities. For the full day camps, students may be picked up from camp starting at 3pm and as late as 3:30pm. During the 3-3:30pm timeframe students will have the option to participate in outdoor games, individual practice time, group jams, and art activities.

For the half day camp (Hogfiddles & Wingdings), students may be picked up from camp starting at 12:30pm and as late as 1pm. During the 12:15-1pm timeframe, students will have the option to participate in outdoor games, individual practice time, group jams, and art activities.

Food

For the full day camps, please pack two snacks for your student each day. Snack time occurs twice each day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

For the half day camp, please pack one snack for your student each day.

All campers should pack a bag lunch every day of camp, and will eat lunch around 12:00 pm. Keep in mind campers won’t have access to a microwave, so pack ready to eat foods and utensils if needed. There is no refrigeration available.
