Campers will experience a week immersed in the traditions of Kentucky music. Each day, children will explore different parts of Kentucky’s rich musical heritage including bluegrass, traditional mountain music, play party tunes, and jug band music. During the week, children will explore the sounds of Kentucky’s State Instrument, the mountain dulcimer (instruments provided); create and play a variety of rhythm jug band instruments and whirl and twirl to foot stomping bluegrass music and play party tunes. Local guest artists will perform and lead campers in songs and melodies from the tradition of Jean Ritchie, Bill Monroe, and The Louisville Jug Band.

By week’s end, campers will be strumming and picking on hogfiddles (aka dulcimers), tapping and blowing rhythm instruments in a jug band and singing and dancing for a real Kentucky wingding!
