This class will meet online - an invitation to a recurring Zoom meeting will be included in the orientation email sent upon checkout.
Kentucky has produced some of the best two-finger banjo players of all time. This class will focus on some of the iconic banjo music from the commonwealth. Students will learn arrangements from master musicians Roscoe Holcomb, Lee Sexton, and Granville Bowlin. We'll go to all the same weird tunings those sources employed and make a point of listening attentively to their recordings. Don't despair, though, Matt will provide the tab for every tune.
This class is appropriate for students who have completed Two-Finger Banjo 2 class with the Louisville Folk School and those who are proficient with the "intermediate tunes" portion of https://twofingerbanjo.com/. The ability to slide, hammer-on, and pull-off is required. Please have a fresh set of strings on your banjo prior to the session beginning!
Each class meeting will be recorded on Zoom and available to stream on demand.
