This camp is for kids who love combining visual art & music! Folk Arts campers will sing, play African marimbas & drums, work with puppets, and create a crankie. Crankies are part of the cantastoria tradition of depicting songs with art, and displaying that art while performing the song.
On the last day of the week, campers will share what they’ve learned with their caregivers at our camper showcase at 3 pm on Friday.

Camp FAQ's
Camp Times & Location
All Louisville Folk School camps occur in Louisville, Kentucky, at Waldorf School of Louisville (3110 Rock Creek Dr, Louisville, KY 40207).
Pick Up & Drop Off
This is a closed campus camp. We require that you sign your child in & out daily with a staff member. Drop-off is rolling, so if your camper needs extra sleep one day, they won’t miss crucial activities. We do not provide beforecare outside of the drop-off time.
Aftercare
Regular camp pickup is by 3 pm. For an additional $50, you can sign your camper up for aftercare. We offer aftercare for those caregivers who need to pick up their campers between 3 and 5 pm Monday through Thursday. The students will perform in a final showcase on Friday at 3 pm, so all campers must be picked up by 4 pm that day.
Food
Please pack two snacks for your student daily. Snack time occurs twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
All campers should also pack a bag lunch every day of camp and will eat lunch around noon. Keep in mind campers won’t have access to a microwave, so pack ready-to-eat foods and utensils if needed. There is no refrigeration available.
What to Bring
Campers will be outside for parts of the day, weather permitting. Please apply sunscreen in the morning and pack extra for them to apply as needed.

Final Performance
The campers will perform in a showcase on the last day of camp (Friday). Final pick-up will happen immediately following the concert. This showcase concert will take place outdoors, weather permitting.
