Instructor: Cole Kidwell

Mandolin teacher Cole Kidwell specializes in teaching beginner and early intermediate students of all ages. He plays mandolin around Louisville in the "Still Unknown" and "Foxhorn" bluegrass bands, and frequents many of the town's jams. Cole plays mostly bluegrass music but finds much enjoyment in old-time fiddle tunes. Cole has taken lessons under local legend Jeff Guernsey. A former Louisville Folk School student himself, Cole was tutored here by nationally touring and recording artist Harris Gardner. Cole is well-equipped to teach the fundamentals of the mandolin, including technique, chord shapes and rhythm playing, techniques to learn tunes and solos by ear as well as by tablature, scales and scale patterns, and the basics of mandolin improvisation. Cole is happy to help you achieve your goals on the mandolin, and is ready to have a great time working towards those goals with you!
