Acoustic bassist Mark Schatz has toured and recorded with a who’s who of the acoustic music world including Béla Fleck, Tony Rice, Tim O'Brien, Nickel Creek, John Hartford, The Claire Lynch Band, and Sarah Jarosz. Mark's workshop is open to bass players of all skill levels. Mark will begin with some bass basics - right and left hand technique, and guidelines for building your bass line, staying supportive while adding options for getting from one chord to the next to add variety and color. Then he will invite participants to ask one question each which he will briefly address so everyone gets a bit of what they individually need. We believe all will benefit from the variety of topics that your questions lead to.
If anyone wants to get a head start on the class they can download Mark's two Homespun bass instructional videos from Homespun. He will also have these DVDs at the workshop. These will provide a good follow-up reference after attending the class as well. We’ll cover a lot of ground so feel free to bring recording devices or note pads. Looking forward to digging in and having fun, too.
