Carter Family Songs with Matt Brown
In this class, we will sing and play a handful of Carter Family songs. Anyone can sing lead on the verse of a song, and the rest of the class will chime in with harmony on the chorus. We will focus on making fun arrangements of our repertoire as it grows each week. This is not a performance or ensemble class but rather a chance to immerse ourselves in the music of the legendary Carter Family and bring their songs to life in a playful way that suits our strengths. All old-time and bluegrass instruments are welcome. Matt is excited to show interested guitar players how to emulate "Mother" Mabel Carter's iconic lead approach and will share tips (and tabs) for how to do so.

All fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, dulcimer, and bass players are welcome. Students must know and be able to transition easily between basic chords on their instrument. Completion of an intermediate LFS class is a bonus. Singers are welcome; no external instrument is required!
This is an adult class open to students aged 13 and up.
