Classic Country Ensemble with Jake Groves
Let's break some hearts and play some classic country! In this ensemble, students will explore the songs and sounds of country music while learning to play together as a band. We'll work on rhythm, accompaniment, melody, and the interplay between instruments and vocals that gives classic country music its distinctive sound.
Repertoire will include favorites like "Tennessee Waltz," "Wildwood Flower," "I Walk the Line," and many more.
Singers and instrumentalists of all kinds are welcome! Whether you play guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, bass, or another instrument, there's a place for you in this ensemble. If you've seen an instrument played on the Grand Ole Opry, it's welcome here!
Prerequisites: Students should have basic proficiency on their instrument and be comfortable keeping time and playing with others. Instrumentalists should be able to play basic chords or melodies in different keys, as appropriate for their instrument. Vocalists should be comfortable singing in a group setting. Harmonica players should bring a C diatonic harmonica. Advanced harmonica techniques are not required.
This is an adult class open to students aged 13 and up.
