Clawhammer Banjo 2 with Jonathan Farmer
With roots in Africa and the American South, clawhammer banjo combines rhythm and melody to create a sound perfect for the back porch or playing in a string band. This class is intended for those students who have reached the point in their banjo journey where they wish to build on their foundational skills. This course will help students expand their skills, learn new tunes, and explore additional tunings. Tunes will be taught by ear in a call-and-response fashion, with videos provided for practice at home.
Tablature will be used from time to time to supplement the aural learning.
New or improved skills may include:
- Hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides
- Open-string pull-offs
- Drop thumb
- Using a capo to play in A, Am and D
New tunings may include:
- Double C (gCGCD)
- Double D (aDADE)
- G modal (gDGCD)
- A modal (aEADE)
Prerequisite: Clawhammer Banjo 1
This is an adult class open to students aged 13 and up.
