Harmonica 2 continues building proficiency on techniques like bending and tongue-blocking, as well as working on incorporating them fluidly into our playing. Song forms encountered in the first class, such as a 12 bar blues, will also be delved deeper into. Specifically we will try to learn to improvise our own simple blues solos. Beginning to build a vocabulary of grooves and licks related to different styles of harmonica playing will also be a focus. We will learn songs that challenge us to play in different positions. These will be drawn mainly from the blues, folk and country idioms, and include “Juke,” “Boil Them Cabbage Down,” “Wildwood Flower,” “St. James Infirmary” and more.
This is an adult class open to students aged 13 and up.
