The Louisville Folk School and 91.9 WFPK proudly present the 2026 Folk Musicians in Residence: Spring Concert Series! Louisville Folk School's Folk Musicians in Residence program brings nationally-recognized folk and traditional artists to Louisville. During their stay, musicians perform at four elementary schools throughout the week and end their stay with a public-facing concert as part of the Spring Concert Series. We’re excited to bring you another season of unforgettable live music.

Hubby Jenkins is a talented multi-instrumentalist who endeavors to share his love and knowledge of old-time American music. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he delved into his southern roots, following the thread of African American history that wove itself through America's traditional music forms. As an integral member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and later Rhiannon Giddens band, Hubby has performed at festivals and venues around the world, earning himself both Grammy and Americana award nominations.

Rachel Meirs and Van Burchfield (who perform as trio Vaiano’s Paisanos with Maxwell Apra) met somewhere between the busking world of New Orleans and a search for deep-cuts at 78rpm. They play cross-continental string band music of the 1920s and 30s, which ranges from country blues and Tex-Mex polkas to Cape Verdean marches and Venezuelan waltzes. Rachel teaches fiddle at the Louisville Folk School, and will be offering a group class next session, so look out on the folk school website for offerings!
