Introduction to Banjo with Wes Johnson

If you are interested in the playing five-string banjo but are not sure which style to try, this class is for you! This eight week course introduces you to the basics of playing the banjo, with instruction in three different styles: Clawhammer, Two-Finger, and Three-Finger a.k.a. "Scruggs style." After completing Intro to the banjo, you'll be ready to choose your own adventure with the style(s) that you prefer.

Students will:

• learn to play three useful chords (G, C, D7),
• try three picking styles,
• learn to play at least two pieces of music in each style!

No previous experience required.

Please bring a 5-string banjo and all of your enthusiasm for this storied instrument.

This is an adult class open to students aged 13 and up.
