Jug Band Ensemble
Jug Band Ensemble with Rick Quisol
This course will offer students a chance to explore multiple aspects of this contagiously fun musical style that had its roots in Louisville.
We'll develop a repertoire from the genre which comprised a mix of Tin Pan Alley Jazz, Blues, and Country, and learn skills to play in a friendly, supportive group.
Weekly lessons will teach:
- jug band repertoire including essential chord changes,
- keeping a rhythm on a washboard,
- historical insight from historian Michael Jones,
- how to play the jug,
- how to bring all those elements together in an ensemble.
This course is open to students who are new to Jug Band and also to returning students. Open to all levels and instruments, both traditional & homemade.
Jug, washboard, guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, bass, kazoo, harmonica, or no instrument at all - come to sing along!
