Jug Band Ensemble with Rick Quisol
This course will offer students a chance to explore multiple aspects of this contagiously fun musical style that had its roots in Louisville. We'll develop a repertoire from the genre, which comprises a mix of Tin Pan Alley Jazz, Blues, and Country, and learn skills to play in a friendly, supportive group.
Students will learn:
- Jug band repertoire, including essential chord changes,
- How to keep a rhythm on a washboard,
- Historical insight from historian Michael Jones,
- How to play the jug,
- ...and how to bring all those elements together in an ensemble!
Prerequisite:
