This camp is perfect for creative and adventurous kids who love singing, crafting, and moving. Campers will spend a week immersed in the vibrant and living traditions of Appalachia with Julia Purcell. They will explore the region’s rich cultural heritage daily through hands-on activities such as learning Kentucky folk songs and stories, playing dulcimers, weaving on a loom, and learning Appalachian square dances and games. Special guest instructors will visit us throughout the week to share their expertise. Participants will leave with handmade treasures, new friends, a deeper connection to Appalachian arts, and an appreciation for the land and culture that shaped these traditions.

On Friday, family and friends will be invited to an interactive showcase, where campers can demonstrate what they’ve learned and created throughout the week. The showcase will end in a family-friendly square dance with live music!
