In this clawhammer (a.k.a. "overhand") repertoire class, we will learn old-time tunes that are commonly played at the music jams here in Louisville. Some examples may include: "Lost Girl," "Richmond," "Haapavesi Waltz," "Shove that Pig's Foot a Little Further into the Fire," "Salt Spring," "Sadie at the Backdoor," "Highlander's Farewell," and "Maysville." Our biggest goal is to build the confidence to go out and play with others!

Skills will include:
  • dressing up tunes using hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides
  • adding syncopation
  • playing melody and chords up the neck
  • drop-thumb
  • alternate string pull-offs
