Guitar Workshop with Kyle Orla

Fingerstyle guitar is one of the most appealing, yet illusive techniques out there. At the highest level it’s a self contained practice of playing guitar that combines moving bass lines with counter melodies, and at the most basic level, it’s just having fun without a pick. No matter where you are, this workshop is designed to help folks make sense of playing guitar with their fingers and offer insights into how simple this method of playing guitar really can be. And spoiler alert, there's only one of two options available to the fingerstyler and I guarantee you’ll walk out of the workshop knowing both! It's my belief that once you learn these basic fundamentals, the rest is pure creativity and joy.

Prerequisites:
Guitar 1 or comfort with first position chords

This is an adult workshop open to students aged 13 and up.

Kyle Orla Bio
Kyle Orla is a roots guitarist with an approach unburdened by convention, but deeply marked by the golden age of American music.

Kyle considers himself a traditionally-nontraditional guitarist; a process of torches passed and reignited through relevant means. While he is known in several contexts - a solo folk musician, collaborator with luminaries like Charlie Parr, and as the visionary behind the Northerly School for Music - these days, Kyle is more widely recognized as a rising educator on his popular YouTube channel, celebrating guitar giants from the past 100 years.

You can find Kyle’s music on BandCamp, his lessons on YouTube, and go the extra mile with him over on his Patreon page, K.O. StringWorks.
