Instructor: Jonathan Farmer

Jonathan Farmer is a multidisciplinary artist and teacher with a lifelong passion for folk and traditional music. After moving to Kentucky from Brooklyn, New York, Farmer earned his stripes as a clawhammer banjo player right here at the Louisville Folk School. Since then, he has had the opportunity to learn from a variety of incredible musicians, including David Brooks, Matt Brown, "Roadie" Rodahaffer, Ian Thomas, Jake Groves, Deborah Payne, Randy Wilson, Montana Hobbs, and John Haywood.

Farmer loves teaching, and particularly enjoys working with students who are brand new to the banjo. After a long day of teaching 5th grade at the Virginia Chance School, you are likely to hear him picking tunes on his front porch, by the campfire, or at any of the amazing old time music jams here in Louisville.
